Tingkat Kejadian Impaksi Caninus pada Rahang Atas dan Rahang Bawah: Tinjauan Literatur

Abstract

Pendahuluan: Gigi impaksi didefinisikan sebagai gigi yang gagal erupsi dalam keadaan normal. Gigi impaksi sering didiagnosis pada saat melakukan pemeriksaan gigi. Salah satu  gigi yang sering mengalami impaksi selain gigi molar ketiga adalah gigi caninus. Gigi caninus merupakan pembentuk profil wajah, kehilangan gigi ini akan mempengaruhi profil muka. Tujuan: Mengetahui prevalensi kejadian impaksi caninus beserta klasifikasi impaksi caninus. Metode: Dalam bidang kedokteran gigi, terdapat dua metode yang paling sering digunakan untuk klasifikasi impaksi gigi caninus adalah menurut Ericson dan Kurol, dan Yamamoto et al. Hasil: Klasifikasi menurut Ericson dan Kurol didasarkan pada lokasi caninus dalam hubungannya dengan akar gigi insisivus lateral. Kesimpulan: Gigi impaksi didefinisikan sebagai gigi yang gagal erupsi dalam keadaan normal. Urutan impaksi gigi yang paling sering terjadi yaitu dimulai dengan gigi geraham ketiga, diikuti oleh gigi caninus rahang atas, gigi premolar rahang bawah, gigi caninus rahang bawah, gigi premolar rahang atas, gigi seri rahang atas dan gigi geraham kedua bawah (gigi seri bawah dan rahang geraham 1 dan 2 sangat jarang mengalami impaksi gigi).
